It was my pleasure to curate for Ponca Tribal Victim Services in collaboration with City Arts is bringing awareness to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples epidemic through art instillations by local Indigenous Artisans. We believe using art to highlight MMIP can help Families and Victims feel comforted and reinforce they are not alone in this fight to bring our people home. Art has always universally communicated comfort without words. The hope is to bring attention and awareness about MMIP to all people, so the community can take steps toward preventative action. PTVS is committed through direct action to help the grieving families as well as the victims through their programs.

standing bear powwow 30th anniversary
Standing Bear Powwow has always held a special place in my heart. I have missed one since the year it started. After being asked to create the art for their 30th anniversary, I did my best to design an image that was meaningful to the park and what it represents. I chose to include the bear claw necklace Chief Standing Bear proudly wears, a southern geometric design you find all of over the park and the bison statues you see on the island on the walking trail. This was finished with acrylic gouache on on antique ledger paper.
